Lu Corfield
Lucy "Lu" Corfield is a Welsh actress,[1] best known for playing Mercy in Crazyhead (TV series) and Freya Wilson in the BBC1 daytime soap opera Doctors (2000 TV series).[2]
In April 2012 Corfield was nominated for Best Newcomer at The British Soap Awards for her role in Doctors (2000 TV series).
In 2013 she received a nomination for Best Exit.
Corfield returned to Doctors in 2014 to play Freya's sister, Lois Wilson, and received a third British Soap Awards nomination - this time for Best On Screen Partnership with Danielle Henry.
Raised in Four Crosses near Llanfair Caereinion, Powys,[3] she became head girl at Welshpool High School.[4] Due to study English at university, she caught the acting bug through appearances with the Montgomeryshire Youth Theatre. After A-Levels, she approached Amnesty International to set up a theatre in education company, with which she toured for two years.[3] She then relocated to London and studied acting at RADA for three years.[5]
Since her graduation, Corfield has worked in both stage and television.
Television roles include Agatha Raisin (TV series), Game of Thrones, Candy Cabs, Rev, EastEnders, The Wrong Mans, Watson and Oliver, Stella, Holby City and Casualty.[1]
Video game roles include The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture.
Her theatre work includes shows at The Royal Court Theatre, The Young Vic, Soho Theatre, The Royal Shakespeare Company and with Headlong Theatre.
Corfield lives in North London with her fiancée Sion Owen.[3]
In an interview with Digital Spy in March 2012, Corfield announced that she was bisexual and proud of her sexuality. She appeared in the 2013 Diversity Role Models Calendar, to show her support towards the prevention of homophobic bullying in UK schools and became a Patron of Pride Cymru in 2014.
Corfield appeared in The Green Party's 2014 and 2016 Party Political Broadcasts to show her support for the Party.
