Liudmila Konovalova is a Russian ballerina and principal dancer. She has danced as a soloist and principal for the Russian State Ballet, Berlin State Ballet, and Wiener Staatsballett, where she is currently the prima ballerina.

Career

Konovalova trained at the Bolshoi Ballet Academy, graduating in 2002.[1] She began her career dancing for the Russian State Ballet,[2] where she played roles including the Black Swan in Swan Lake.[3] Beginning in 2007, Konovalova danced for the Berlin State Ballet under Vladimir Malakhov. She was appointed soloist in 2009.[1][4] She then danced for the Wiener Staatsballett, becoming prima ballerina in 2011.[5] In 2012 she danced the principal role of Clara in the Vienna State Opera's staging of Rudolf Nureyev's version of The Nutcracker,[4] in addition to several other roles, and she continues to be the prima ballerina for the Wiener Staatsballett.[6] During her career, Konovalova has toured as a principal dancer through Europe, North America, South America, and Asia.[1][7][8] She has also been a guest soloist for the Ballet de l`Opera National de Bordeau, the Slovenské Národné Divadlo, the Teatro dell´Opera di Roma, and the Toyko Ballet.[1]

In 2013, paintings consisting of the footprints of Konovalova's solos were created by artist Casanova Sorolla, including Signapura 2013.[9]
