List of cavalry regiments in the Canadian Expeditionary Force
During the First World War, the Canadian Army authorized the formation of cavalry and mounted rifle regiments to serve in the Canadian Expeditionary Force. Some of these regiments served throughout the war on the Western Front as part of the Canadian Cavalry Brigade, but only the 1st to 6th Regiments Canadian Mounted Rifles served (briefly) as a mounted force. They were converted to infantry battalions in the Canadian Corps, and the other mounted rifle regiments were broken up in England as reinforcements for cavalry and infantry units. The Canadian Light Horse was the Canadian Corps' cavalry regiment.
The regiments in bold type served in the field.
