Plenue brand
Cowon Z2 Plenue
The Cowon Z2 Plenue was announced for release on January 19, 2012 . It is widely considered to be the successor to the earlier D3 Plenue, upon which it improves in a number of ways, most notably of which is speed. The Z2 features a 1 GHz Cortex-A8 CPU and has 512 MB of RAM. Aside from the CPU, it also contains a 320 MHz Mali-200 GPU[1] and an 800 MHz Mali-VE6 "Full HD" VPU.
The Z2 was received well by critics. An Engadget reviewer called it “stunningly quick”, and proceeded to state that “the touch response was just as good as on our Galaxy S II. In fact, that's indicative of the overall system.”[2] In addition, the Z2 has received consistently favourable reviews at online stores such as Amazon.com and Advanced MP3 Players.
The Z2 features a 3.7-inch, Gorilla Glass-covered Super AMOLED touchscreen with pixel dimensions of 480×800. It comes in black or white, with capacities ranging from 8 to 32 GB.[3]
The Z2 was awarded the iF product design award in the year of its release.[4]
Cowon D3 Plenue
The Cowon D3 Plenue, announced on December 28, 2010 , constitutes Cowon’s first foray into the Android-based portable media player market.
Eagerly anticipated in audiophile circles, the D3 was largely met with disappointment due to the perceived unresponsiveness of its GUI.
MP3 players
iAUDIO 9+
The iAUDIO 9+ was released in July 2013. The unit has exactly the same physical and technical specifications as the original iAUDIO 9, except for a slightly larger internal speaker and JetEffect v. 5.0 (the original iAUDIO 9 was released with JetEffect v. 3.0). In addition, the iAUDIO 9+ was made available in models with storage capabilities of 4, 8, 16 and 32 GB, whereas the original iAUDIO 9 was available in 4, 8 and 16 GB models.[5]
Cowon D20
On March 30, 2013 Cowon released a third revision of their Cowon D2 media player,[6] with the main differences being the removal of a kickstand slot on the right hand side (replaced with a built-in loudspeaker), an enhanced battery life of approximately 90 hours of audio playback, and an updated UI.[7] Unlike its predecessors, the D20 is not available with a DAB/DMB radio tuner.
Cowon X9
The Cowon X9, announced on July 13, 2012 , is the MP3 player with the world's longest battery life, claiming a continuous music playback time of 110 hours. Apart from being "a sequel to the mega-capacity player 'COWON X7'",[8] Cowon likely intends the X9 to be the successor to the highly successful J3.
iAUDIO 10
The Cowon iAUDIO 10 was released in South Korea in September 2011, with a design similar to the i9. Upon release, the i10 was awarded Japan's Good Design Award.
In 2012, the i10 was awarded a "silver medal" in the MP3 player category by leading Japanese price comparison site Kakaku.com (価格.com).[9]
iAUDIO E2
iAUDIO 9
The Cowon iAUDIO 9 was released in November 2009, more than two years after its predecessor, the i7. It features a new vertical form factor and improves upon its predecessor by the inclusion of a built-in speaker.
Cowon S9
Portable media players
Cowon T5
The Cowon T5, released in Korea in December, 2012, is a hybrid between the A5 Plenue and the R7—sharing its form factor and internals with the former, but running Windows CE like the latter. Like Cowon's other study-centric offerings, the T5 comes pre-loaded with a number of learning tools for Korean students.
In the West, its release faced criticism for not being a significant improvement over its predecessor the R7, retaining the screen pixel dimensions of 800×480 and running the same firmware. The T5 has yet to be released outside of Korea.
