List of A-League hat-tricks

Shane Smeltz scored a record four A-League hat-tricks, for Gold Coast United and Perth Glory.

The A-League is the top and only professional association football league in Australia. Since its inaugural season, 2005–06, more than twenty players have scored hat-tricks in A-League matches, by scoring three goals in one game. In addition, five players have scored more than three goals in a match. The first hat-trick was scored by Ante Milicic for Newcastle Jets in a win over New Zealand Knights.[1] In the 2007 A-League Grand Final, Archie Thompson scored five goals in Melbourne Victory's win over Adelaide United.[2]

On one occasion, two hat-tricks have been scored in a single match, when Marcos Flores and Sergio van Dijk both scored three goals for Adelaide United against North Queensland Fury.[3] Shane Smeltz is the only player to have scored hat-tricks in consecutive matches.[4] Henrique is currently the only player to have scored a hat-trick after coming on as a substitute.[5] Besart Berisha holds the record for the fastest ever A-League hat-trick, scoring three goals in six minutes for Brisbane Roar against Adelaide United.[6]

Smeltz has scored the most hat-tricks, with four. Following him is Berisha, with three, and after that Van Dijk, Nathan Burns, Thompson, Jamie Maclaren and Andy Keogh follow with two hat-tricks each.[7]
