Linda Arvidson Johnson (July 12, 1884 – July 26, 1949), known as Linda Arvidson, was an American actress in silent films.
Biography
Arvidson was the first wife of film director D.W. Griffith (May 14, 1906 - March 2, 1936). She played lead roles in many of his earliest films. While acting, she was sometimes credited as Linda Griffith. The pair separated around 1912 and finally divorced in 1936 when Griffith wished to remarry.
In 1925, she authored her autobiography When the Movies Were Young (1925, 1968). She is mentioned in William J. Mann's The Biograph Girl, a novel based on Florence Lawrence.
