Life of the Party is an upcoming comedy film directed by Ben Falcone and written by Falcone and Melissa McCarthy. The film stars McCarthy, Maya Rudolph, Molly Gordon, Julie Bowen, Gillian Jacobs, Debby Ryan, Matt Walsh and Jacki Weaver. Produced by On the Day, the film is scheduled to be released May 11, 2018, by Warner Bros. Pictures.[1]

Production
Filming began in August 2016, in Atlanta, Georgia.[2]
Casting
On July 8, 2016, Gillian Jacobs was first cast to play a sorority sister.[3] On July 28, Molly Gordon joined the cast to play McCarthy's daughter.[4] On August 2, Jacki Weaver joined the project to play McCarthy's mother.[5] On August 4, Maya Rudolph was cast as McCarthy's neurotic best friend[6] On August 11, Jessie Ennis was cast in the film to play “a sorority sister with issues”.[7] In August 12, Debby Ryan joined the cast to play Jennifer, a villain of sorts, a “mean girl” head of a sorority.[8] On August 24, Jimmy O. Yang and Adria Arjona joined the cast. Yang playing Tyler, boyfriend to the daughter of McCarthy’s character who’s described as a normal college guy who likes to party. Arjona is set to play Amanda, another “sorority sister with issues”.[9] On August 25, Matt Walsh was cast to play Dan, McCarthy’s husband who is “always wearing golf pants”.[10] On August 29, Julie Bowen joined the cast of the film as McCarthy's character's enemy.[11] In September 2016, Luke Benward joined the cast of the film, in an undisclosed role.[12]
