Lewman Arthur Lane was the 24th head football coach for Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas and he held that position for the 1945 season.[1] His overall coaching record at Washburn was 3 wins, 1 losses, and 0 ties. This ranks him 30th at Washburn in terms of total wins and fourth at Washburn in terms of winning percentage.[2] He had previously coached at Rockhurst University before coming to Washburn.[3] He returned there to coach football again in 1947.[4]

He was a druggist who managed a family drug store which was founded by his father, Daniel J. Lane, at St. Mary's Township, Kansas.[5] He died in 1980.[6]
