Lauvøylandet
Lauvøylandet is a small island outside Sandnessjøen in Northern Norway. The island is often called Rødøya, but Rødyøa is an island much further north.
Lauvøylandet is most famous for having a 4000-year-old rock carving portraying a man skiing. This is the oldest picture in the world of someone using skis. The rock carving lies in an area called "Røøya" and therefore people may have presumed it to be local dialect for "Rødøya" (Red-island).
