Lam Tai-fai, SBS, JP (Chinese: 林大輝, born 22 November 1959) is a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong for Industrial (Second) functional constituency, which is composed of the members of the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong. He is also an appointed member of the Shatin District Council and serves on the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference.[1][2][3]
Lam Tai-fai was formerly managing director of Peninsula Knitters Ltd, a textiles and garment company owned by Henry Tang, the Chief Secretary for Administration of Hong Kong. He has also sponsored a secondary school in Sha Tin, named "Lam Tai-fai College", which he supervises.[4] He had also been owner of the Hong Kong Rangers FC, Happy Valley AA and Shatin SA.
He was uncontestedly elected to the Legislative Council of Hong Kong in 2008 through the trade-based Industrial (Second) functional constituency. Due to his close relationship with the Chief Secretary, Lam was regarded to belong to the "Tang camp" during the 2012 Chief Executive election when Tang ran against the ex-convenor of the Executive Council Leung Chun-ying. After Leung became the Chief Executive after defeating Tang, Lam was not seen as close to the administration.
He stepped down from his position in the Legislative Council in 2016.
