The Lachnospiraceae are a family of bacteria in the order of Clostridiales which occur in the human and mammal gut microbiota.[3][5][6][7] All species of this family are anaerobic.[7] Members of this family are linked to obesity and may protect against colon cancer in humans by producing butyric acid.[8]
