Korouni (Kurdish: کرونی), is a Southern Kurdish dialect of Fars and Kurdistan.[1] Koruni is a Kurdish tribe of Kurdistan and Fars. Most of the tribe was transplanted from Kurdistan to Fars by Karim Khan Zand during the 1760s.[2]
The speakers of Korouni live in scattered pockets in Southern Iranian Fars province around Shiraz, Sepidan and Kazerun. The succeeding information is about the dialect spoken around the latter two cities.[3]
Phonology

Vowels
- short: â, a, e, i, o, u
- long: ā, ē, ō
Consonants
- fricative: ð, like in, 'peðar' (father).
- voiced velar fricative: γ, like in 'tiγ' (thorn).
- alveolar trill: like in 'borra' (flail).
- palatal: 'g' and 'k', like in 'gilas' (cherry) and 'goruk' (hank of yarn) for 'k'.

- The suffix "-aka" makes nouns definite. Examples:

sif (apple) → sif-al-aka (the apples)
orsi (shoe) → orsi-y-al-aka (the shoes) ('y' is used if noun ends in vowel)
