Kevin Darcy (born 2 March 1990) is an Australian ice hockey player currently playing for the Perth Thunder in the Australian Ice Hockey League.

Playing career

Darcy first played for the Princeton Posse of the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League in 2008.[1] He remained with the Posse for one season before signing with the Valley Jr. Warriors for the start of the 2009-10 season.[1] Darcy played for the Warriors in both the Eastern Junior Hockey League (EJHL) and the Empire Junior Hockey League however mainly playing in the EJHL team. Darcy played for the Warriors until the end of the 2010-11 season before relocating to Melbourne, Australia and signing with the Melbourne Ice of the Australian Ice Hockey League for the 2011 season.[1] Darcy won AIHL Championship with the Ice when they defeated the Newcastle North Stars in the Goodall Cup playoffs.[1][2] After completing the season with the Ice Darcy returned to the United States and enrolled at Marian University to compete in the NCAA Division III Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association. After the end of the 2012-13 season with Marian University Darcy returned to Australia and signed with Perth Thunder for the 2013 AIHL season.[1]

Darcy was first called up to represent Australia in 2008, where he joined the national under-18 team to compete in the 2008 IIHF World U18 Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Meribel and Courchevel, France.[3] Australian finished last and were relegated to Division III for the following year while Darcy recorded a single assist and finished with a plus/minus of –3 for the tournament.[3] In 2013 Darcy was selected for the national senior team to compete in the 2013 IIHF World Championship Division II Group A tournament being held in Zagreb, Croatia. Darcy recorded a single assist and finished with a plus/minus of –2 for the tournament while Australia finished in fourth place.[4]

Personal life

Darcy was born on 2 March 1990 in Weymouth, Massachusetts, United States.[1] He is the son of James and Anne Darcy and has one sibling, Niamh. He is currently majoring in Business management at Marian University.[5]
