Life and career
1964–85
Edwards was born and raised in Wisconsin, the daughter of Nancy (now Knickelbine) and Gerald H. Eickstaedt (1938-1978).[3] In January 1978, when Edwards was thirteen years of age, her father commit suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Edwards' father suffered with depression and struggled with an addiction involving drugs and alcohol,[4] despite attending the Hazelden treatment center twice. After his death, Edwards made it her job to take care of her family.[5]
Shortly after graduating from South Milwaukee High School in 1982,[6] Edwards moved to Paris after being signed to Elite Model Management.[7] Edwards went on to have a successful career as a model, appearing on several magazine covers as well as appearing in Nike’s first Just Do It campaign.[8] Edwards also dabbled in acting by appearing on Married... with Children, in the episode Dead Men Don't Do Aerobics.[9]
1986-2014
In 1986, Edwards moved Los Angeles where she met NFL superstar Marcus Allen.[10] During their engagement, Edwards and Allen were mentioned in Faye Resnick's book, Nicole Brown Simpson: The Private Diary of a Life Interrupted, which was published during Simpson's murder trial. Resnick claimed Nicole Brown Simpson was having an affair with Allen and Edwards was aware of Allen's womanizing ways and if she knew of the affair she would have to call of the wedding.[11] The couple were asked to testify in the trial but fought the subpoena as they wanted to stay out of it.[12] Despite the allegations, the pair married and the ceremony was held at O. J. Simpson's Rockingham estate.[13] In 2001, after eight years the couple divorced.[14][15]
In 2001, Edwards married another NFL superstar, Donnie Edwards.[16][17] Edwards and her husband live happily in Brentwood where they involve themselves in many charity and organizations[18][19][20] such as The Greatest Generations Foundation, which is a non-profit dedicated to supporting America's war veterans. The pair often like to travel[21] and spend time in Donnie's hometown of San Diego, where they own their second home.[22][23] In 2013, Edwards helped chef and business owner, Jeffrey Strauss, with the interior design of his Sen Diego home.[24]
2015–present
In 2015, it was announced that Edwards would be joining the main cast of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills in the sixth season and later went on to make her debut in the eighth episode, as an old friend to Lisa Rinna.[25][26][27] During the season Edwards confronted Resnick on her previous allegations in her book[28][29][30] and bonded with cast member, Lisa Vanderpump.[31] Also during the series, Edwards revealed she is completely deaf in her right ear and later got a hearing-aid, The Phonak CROS.[32]
On February 23, 2016, Edwards appeared on Watch What Happens Live alongside Debra Messing.[33][34][35] Shortly after the conclusion of the sixth season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, in July 2016, Edwards announced her departure from the series after one season.[36][37] Prior to the conclulsion of the season, in January 2016, Edwards' 21 year-old nephew Cooper Eickstaedt, son to her brother Jeff[38][39] passed away due to a drug over-dose.[40][41]
