Karen Paget

Karen Paget (Karen M. Paget) is an American political scientist, from Boulder, Colorado, USA. She is the author of non-fiction books. She holds a doctorate from the University of Colorado and a M.A. in International Affairs.

She is the author of the book Patriotic Betrayal: The Inside Story of the CIA’s Secret Campaign to Enroll American Students in the Crusade Against Communism, launched in March 2015.^[1]

The book reveals how the CIA used the American National Student Association, recruiting students as undercover agents inside America and abroad.^[2]

The 1967, Ramparts published revelations about story and this prompted the CIA to create a cover up about its activities. The publications resulted in the attempt of the agency to compromise Ramparts employees and the organization itself.^[3]

After more than a decade of research, Karen Paget gathered archival sources, declassified documents, and interviews, showing that the story published by Ramparts was just part of a bigger CIA operation.

She is coauthor of the book published by The Free Press, Running as a Woman: Gender and Power in American Politics.
