The K-1 Attack Roadster is a sports car built by the Slovak car company K-1 Engineering. Designed in 1999 by Mitra and Kvetnansky. The cars are manufactured by hand in Bratislava. Attack was officially launched in May 2002,[1] but in developmend since 1991. The car was first made for racing, developed by Dick Kvetnansky and designed by Juraj Mitra in 1999, the car won many races in Europe, that created demand for the car, so they made it available as a Kit car to be used in conjunction with a Honda Accord donor Since 2002, so it can be imported to other countries, then the company produces the roadster as turnkey car.

History

In 2003, K-1 Engineering presented the Attack Roadster at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA - International Automobile Exhibition).[2] Powered by a 3.0 L (2 967 ccm) Ford Mondeo ST220[3] V6 engine, producing 242 PS (178 kW) at 7000 rpm, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission gearbox. The Attack could accelerate to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 5.2 seconds.[4] Top speed was electronically limited to 155.4 mph (250 km/h).

In 2002 the Master Piece K-1 Attack #1 was made of all carbon fiber; it was donated by Mr. Dick Kvetnansky in 2003 to the west Philadelphia Learning Academy. Led by Engineer-teacher Simon Hauger, it was the quest of the high school class to build "The World's first Hybrid Supercar". In 2004 the High school kids completed the Hybrid Supercar and in 2005 they won an International fuel efficient competition, beating out Billion dollar car manufacturers like Honda, Toyota and even Tesla. In 2006 they competed and won again, sweeping the competition. The car was capable of going from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds, and gave up to 68 miles to the gallon. The car did not run on gasoline—the rear wheels were powered by a VW GTI Diesel engine that was modify to run on soy bean oil and the front wheels were first powered by an AC Propulsion electric motor and then later by an Azure motor. The car was not only super-fast and economical, but was also eco-friendly (pollution free), thereby achieving the title of The World's First Hybrid Supercar", According to the fuel efficient competition, Tour Del Sol, numerous news coverage, The Discovery Channel, ABC, NBC, CABLE TV, and car magazines.

The car is now located in Beverly Hills and owned by Prince Fuad Faresi Abboud, who is a car enthusiast and has scheduled the car to be exhibited in car Museums. US President Obama gave a news conference about the car, stating that "America should be encourage by this example from the high school students and their teachers" and that "these are the kind of things that will help our young people to fulfill their promise and realize their dreams"; he also stated that "The 'First Hybrid Supercar' became part of car history and that we should be very proud that it was accomplish first here in America". (There is a Studio Film now in development about the World's first Hybrid Supercar, is called "Speed Boyz" Denzel Washington is producing it!

Later the K-1 Attack was modified by car racer Alojosa Tushek from Slovenia, who used the body that was slightly modified in the front and rear by Oliver Ashley in 2008 and named it "Renovatio". Tushek added luxury interior finishes and an Audi V8 4.2 liter same as the engine from an Audi RS delivering 450HP at 7900 rpm and 315 lb-ft of torque at just 3,200 rpm. Tushek called it the "Renovatio T500 Tushek". Its debut was first at the Marques Monaco Supercar show in April 2012 and then at the Salon Prive in the UK in Sep of 2012. The first to test drive the car was TOP Gear TV show from the UK; they were very pleased with the performance and looks, and stated that you can tell that the car was engineered by race car drivers. The car had a price tag of $300,000.00 Euros and it did get orders only 30 examples were made.

Now Prince Fuad Faresi Abboud is spending great amounts of money in modifying the body of the K-1 Attack and completely changing the drivetrain by putting a Formula 1 suspension and drivetrain from Honda into the K-1, and calling it the F1 Faresi, capable of doing the 1/4 mile in 7.9 seconds, making it faster than the Bugatti Veyron which does it in 9+ seconds, according to Bugatti.

Today, the 1st generation K-1 attacks (made before 2009, of which there are only 30 turn key factory built cars made) These are very rare to find and therefore collectible. The 3rd generation K-1 kit is currently manufactured and sold by B-Racing with a wide variety of donor vehicles to choose from. (By the time you imported to the US and built it, about 1 year will go by and instead of costing you $300K Euros it will only cost you about $70K Euros, that is, if you built it yourself. If you get a turn key from b-racing it will end up costing you about $165K Euros for a 3rd generation K-1 in the US after importation fees, taxes etc. . that is with a 4 cyl or 6 cyl motor, if you want to put an Audi V8 drivetrain and luxury finishes it will end up costing you a lot more.

(Note: K-1's made before 2008 are original K-1's worth big bucks, only 33 made).

The K-1's made after 2008 are 3rd generation kits made by B-racing, worth much less, also there are some companies that are making replicas for around $30K just for the kit or $70K for turn key replicas!.

And the production Tushek made from the K-1, with an Audi RS, sells for €300,000. Euros. Confused.... Think of it like the first Original Shelby Cobras, they are far more valuable then the Cobras made later by Shelby, and even more valuable then the Cobra replicas made by other 3rd party companies.
