Julia Pell
Julia Lorillard Wampage Pell (1953–2006) was an advocate for the rights of same-sex couples and president of the Rhode Island Alliance for Lesbian and Gay Civil Rights.[1] She was born on May 9, 1953, in Washington, D.C., the youngest child of Nuala Pell and Claiborne Pell, a six-term United States Senator from Rhode Island.[1]
She died on April 13, 2006, in Newport, Rhode Island, at the age of 52.
Her name "Wampage" was derived from her ancestor, the Chief of the Siwanois Indians in Westchester County.
