Josh McConnell is a technology and business journalist based out of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is currently the producer and editor of National Post's FP Tech Desk,[2] as well as a digital producer for the Financial Post,[3] the newspaper's business section.
McConnell started in journalism in 2001, eventually writing for CBC News, The Globe and Mail, Marketing Magazine and other publications.[4]
In addition to technology and business, he has also written about music,[5] culture[6] and social trends.[7][8]
McConnell has been a guest host for National Post's SiriusXM show in Canada, plus has appeared as a tech expert in national outlets such as Rogers Sportsnet 590's Got Game, 680 News, Calgary's News Talk 770, MobileSyrup and various SiriusXM Canada shows.[9][10] He has also appeared as a master of ceremonies and panelist for events about technology in Canada.[11]
McConnell has interviewed people such as Trent Reznor, Jimmy Iovine, Eddy Cue, Jose Bautista, as well as executives at major companies including Apple, Facebook, Google, Twitter, Spotify, LinkedIn, SoundCloud, Box and Nielsen SoundScan, often as a Canadian exclusive.[12]
History
Before working at major Canadian news organizations, McConnell was the editor in chief of the online music magazine Renown Magazine for eight years.[13] He also was a radio news anchor and reporter for My Broadcasting Corporation.[14]
McConnell studied journalism at Humber College after getting a Bachelor of Commerce degree in business management at Ryerson University.[15] While studying at Humber's post-graduate journalism program, McConnell was the first employed reporter for its HumberNEXT magazine.[16]
In addition to journalism work, McConnell was also an A&R Scout for New York City-based MajorLabelScout before the company shuttered.[17]
