Joseph E. Schwartzberg
Joseph E. Schwartzberg (born 1928) is a University of Minnesota professor emeritus of geography and prominent world federalist scholar.
Schwartzberg was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1928. He did significant work in seeking solutions to the Kashmir conflict. He also developed the idea of "weighted voting" for representation in a United Nations Parliamentary Assembly. He is best known as the editor and principal author of the Historical Atlas of South Asia, which won the Watumull Prize of the American Historical Association and a distinguished achievement award from the Association of American Geographers.
He served on the board of directors of the World Federalist Association, has chaired its Policy and Issues Commission, and is President of the Minnesota Chapter of Citizens for Global Solutions.
