Jela Krečič, PhD, (born 1979) is a Slovenian journalist, best known for her exclusive interview with Wikileaks' Julian Assange in December 2013.

Early life

Krečič was born in Ljubljana, Slovenia (then part of Yugoslavia) as the daughter of art historian Peter Krečič.

She received her graduate degree, defending her thesis about art manifestos of the Slovene historical avant-garde,[1] from the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana, where she also received her PhD in philosophy under the guidance of Mladen Dolar from the Faculty of Arts in 2009.[2]

Career

She works as a journalist for the major Slovenian newspaper Delo, where her exclusive interview with Julian Assange was published in both English and Slovenian.[3]

Personal life

Since 2013, she has been married to philosopher Slavoj Žižek.[4]
