Johnathan Keith Gainer (born October 8, 1966 in Panama City, Florida) is a former Major League Baseball first baseman who appeared in 23 games for the Colorado Rockies in the 1993 season. He is an alumnus of the University of South Alabama, and is currently the hitting coach for the Visalia Oaks.
Drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 24th round of the 1990 MLB amateur draft, Gainer would make his Major League Baseball debut with the Rockies on May 14, 1993 as the Starting 1st Baseman, and appeared in his final game on October 2 of that year as a Pinch Hitter for Lance Painter. Gainer was a member of the inaugural Rockies team & Wore #37 in his Only Big League Season in 1993.
Gainer was one of 22 players in Major League history to homer on the first pitch of their first Major League at bat.
