Jari Kainulainen is a Finnish bassist best known as the former bassist of Finnish power metal band Stratovarius from 1993 until 2005, and as the current bass player for Masterplan since 2012. He has also played with other bands such as Symfonia, Evergrey, and Devil's Train.

Kainulainen plays Ibanez 6 string basses and uses Ampeg amplifiers. He is influenced by Geezer Butler, Billy Sheehan, Cliff Burton, and Steve Harris.[1]

In addition, in January 2015, he released an album with his new band ShadowQuest.
