James Smith (educator)

James Smith (died before 1737[1]:305) was a Church of Scotland minister in Cramond[2]:441 and the principal of Edinburgh University from 1733 to 1736. He had been appointed professor of Divinity on 16 Feb 1732 and succeeded Dr. William Hamilton in both offices.[1]:282[2]:383 He was also a Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland.[2]:441
