James Jeffries (Louisiana)
James Jeffries (1807-1898) was the 20th Lieutenant Governor of Louisiana from 1888 to 1892 serving under Governor Francis T. Nicholls.
Early life
Jeffries was from Alexandria, Louisiana in Rapides Parish.
Political career
Jeffries was a supporter of the Nicholls faction of the Louisiana Democratic Party. In 1888 Jeffries ran and was elected Lieutenant Governor. He also served as a Member of the Democratic National Committee from Louisiana during that period.[1]
