Ikramul Hoque (Bengali: ইকরামুল হক; born 21 August 1993), better known by his stage name Iksy, is a British comedian and actor of Bangladeshi descent. He is best known for starring in the hit series Corner Shop Show, being a part of the Puremovements collective and for his famous parodies of artists such as WSTRN and Justin Bieber. He is recognised by the Internet Movie Database and the BBC.
Early life
Hoque was born in East London to Bengali Muslim parents. He is of Bangladeshi origin and was raised in a traditional Islamic home. He first started making songs in 2009 in the grime scene at a very young age. However, he signed to a legitimate record label, XLVI Records, in late 2015. Iksy was part of the Puremovements collective.
Career
In 25 December 2014, Hoque appeared in Humza Arshad's music video Gunda alongside Puremovements, Rameet Kaur and the Badman's World crew in episode 10 of Badman's World.
In February 2015, Hoque appeared in an episode of comedy web series Corner Shop Show.[1] Later on, he made another appearance in its mini-series Corner Shop Express. He also featured in Agent Kalia's Desi Hip Hop alongside Kash, MrKerrah, Humza Arshad and Klayze. In June 2015, he launched Puremovements TV alongside the rest of the Puremovements collective and the team behind Avell Pictures. It aimed to make comedy serials and dramas. In 10 December 2015, Hoque signed to XLVI Records (Char Avell) and released his first parody music video - In2 Parody (WSTRN Cover). It featured Mumzy Stranger, Char Avell, Islah Abdur-Rahman and Michael Truong from the Corner Shop Show, Humza Arshad, Bengali Blitz and Puremovements (Kash, Maj and Tips).
In 24 January 2016, Hoque released his second parody music video - Sorry Parody (Justin Bieber Cover). It featured Char Avell and his brother Majharul 'Maj' Hoque. In 30 January 2016, Hoque and his brother appeared on Kan D Man and DJ Limelight's show on the BBC Asian Network.[2][3] He also recorded an exclusive remix of his Sorry parody for the BBC and his In2 Parody is also featured in BBC Music.[4][5] In 24 March 2016, Hoque appeared in Bengali Blitz's music video alongside Islah Abdur-Rahman, Sheikh Akbar and Kawsar 'Kash' Ahmed. In 23 April 2016, Hoque appeared in the Drama Setterz official freestyle dance video alongside Salique, Faglaa Jay and the rest of the Puremovements collective.
After his fame and awareness, he has performed in many events performing stand-up comedy as well as his parodies. In 21 May 2016, he performed in one of London's biggest Asian comedy and entertainment events hosted by Studio1 Media. He performed alongside many other notable faces such as; Nadia Ali, Ezcan (Ezzakins), Rumena Begum, Sham Idrees, Karim Metwaly, Sheikh Akbar, Tasha Tah, Zack Knight, Mumzy Stranger, Char Avell, Shaful Khan, Jernade Miah, Babrul Hoque (Bengali Blitz), Kawsar Ahmed (Kash), Nishat Monsur (Nish), Islah Abdur-Rahman and Michael Truong from the Corner Shop Show, Dulzy Ahmed, Hussnain Lahori, Humza Arshad, Rameet Kaur, Suleman Mirza and Madhu Singh from the dance group Signature and Bambi Bains (TeamPBN).
As of August 2016, he is the producer and is a part of the current cast in the drama series The Fourth Way.
