Ibrahim Hooper
Ibrahim Hooper (born Douglas Hooper)[1] is the National Communications Director and spokesperson for the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a Washington D.C.-based Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization.
Early life
Hooper was born in Canada and immigrated to the United States after converting to Islam.[2] He holds a bachelor's degree in history, and a master's of art in journalism and mass communications.[3] During the late 1980s and early 1990s, Hooper worked as a news producer at WCCO-TV, the CBS affiliate in Minneapolis.
Statements and positions
Hooper advised that people should not watch the anti-Islam film, Innocence of Muslims after a court order requiring that it be removed from YouTube on copyright grounds was reversed and the film re-posted. The film which when released caused violent reactions among Muslims around the world. Hooper has not watched the film.[4]
