Hiss Tracts

Hiss Tracts is a Canadian experimental musical duo composed of members of Godspeed You Black Emperor and Growing.

History

David Bryant, a guitarist in Godspeed You Black Emperor and Set Fire to Flames, and Kevin Doria, of the bands Growing and Total Life, first met and began working together in 2004, though they did not begin writing music as Hiss Tracts until 2008.[1] Bryant was the recording engineer for the three Growing albums released between 2006 and 2008.[2] After working together to create music for the Lausanne Underground Film Festival, the duo began using the Hiss Tracts moniker.[3] However, their first release under this name did not materialize until 2014, when the group announced the release of the full-length album Shortwave Nights.[4][5] Shortwave Nights was released by Constellation Records in May 2014.[6] The album incorporated elements of sound collage, ambient music, and noise music.[7]
