Hemp, Georgia

Hemp (also known as Hemptown) is an unincorporated community in Fannin County, in the U.S. state of Georgia.[1]

History

A post office called Hemptown was established in 1879, and closed 1880. The post office was restarted under the name Hemp in 1886, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1956.[2] "Hemp place" is an English translation of the native Cherokee-language name.[3]
