"Hémisphère" is the second 12" release by Parisian duo Paradis and was the third release on Tim Sweeney's Beats In Space Records. The 12" features two tracks, on side (a) "Hémisphère" and on side (b) "Je m’ennuie".[1] The track "Hémisphère" features a beautifully crafted upbeat house pop combination unique to Paradis. "Je m’ennuie" on the other hand incorporates Paradis' own tailored sound but incorporates a brooding bassline throughout. Both tracks feature vocals which are thought to be sung by the duo themselves.
Music Videos
Unlike the duo's previous release, "Hémisphère" features two music videos for each song. Posted primarily to YouTube the video for track Hémisphère featured a short film directed by Sacha Barbin. The story is of a troubled man who endeavours into the streets of Pigalle, Paris during a late night and starts to have psychological fits and hallucinations. The noir sound of Paradis' relaxing synths and beautifully constructed melodies play throughout the video.
In the video for "Je m’ennuie", Paradis used excerpts from the 1968 film Je t'aime, je t'aime by Alain Resnais whilst playing the track throughout.
Cover Art
Again like Paradis' first release, Parfait Tirage, Hémisphère features artwork by Denise Kupferschmidt, a Brooklyn-based artist.
