Hawaii 2, also known as Birch Island, is a private 6-acre island located in St. George Lake near the town of Liberty, Maine in the United States. It was purchased in October 2014 by Cards Against Humanity[1] with 250,000 one-square-foot plots licensed to consumers in a 2014 campaign called "Ten Days or Whatever of Kwanzaa." Proceeds from the campaign were donated to the Sunlight Foundation, a nonpartisan nonprofit organization that advocates for open government. Cards Against Humanity co-creator Max Temkin said that the company renamed the island Hawaii 2 because "it's the Maine island".[2] Although it is unclear if local government has officially recognized the name change, Hawaii 2 does appear on Google Maps,[3] Bing Maps,[4] and OpenStreetMap.[5]
