Hans Krumminga (6 May 1920 − 28 November 1943) was killed on 6 November 1943, when straffed on take-off by 15 IAP Yakovlev Yak-1s led by Kpt Leontiy.[1][Note 1] He was also a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross (German: Ritterkreuz des Eisernen Kreuzes). The Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross was awarded to recognise extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership.
