GIST (Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology) is a leading research university located in Gwangju, South Korea.
History
GIST was established by the South Korean government in 1993 as a research-oriented graduate school.[1] Its founding purposes include training highly qualified professionals to lead innovations in science and technology and promoting cooperative research with industry and educational and research exchange with foreign countries. In 2010, the undergrauate GIST College was launched. In the QS World University Rankings 2014-2015, GIST was No. 4 in the world in the category of citations per faculty.[2] In The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2014-2015, GIST was ranked 96th in the world in the subject of Engineering & Technology.[3]
