Guðrún Kristín Magnúsdóttir

This is an Icelandic name. The last name is a patronymic, not a family name; this person is properly referred to by the given name Guðrún.

Guðrún Kristín Magnúsdóttir (born 27 September 1939, in Reykjavík) is an Icelandic author and artist.

She has received many awards as an artist and author of more than 130 books[1] including children‘s books, books on nature, drama, and the Óðsmál series.[2][3][4][5] The The Icelandic Ministry of Education, Science, and Culture, and Hagthenkir, The Association of Non-fiction and Educational Writers in Iceland, funded the Óðsmál series.[6][7]

Guðrún received a research grant from The Icelandic Government Cultural Council in 1988.[8]

She was a photo-model in her teens and has also been a part-time actress in several Icelandic films, including Hrafninn flýgur (When the Raven Flies) [9] and Myrkrahöfðinginn (Flames of Paradise).[10][11]

Guðrún completed The Commercial College in Iceland (Verzlunarskóli Íslands) in 1962, and graduated from The Icelandic Art Academy (Myndlista- og handíðaskóli Íslands) in 1973.[12] She studied pedagogy at the University of Iceland, and followed distant education at Maharishi University of Management in Science of Consciousness and Physics. She has studied Sanskrit for several years.

Guðrún is a Heathen Gothi (goði) in Iceland.

Guðrún grew up in Reykjavik and on the Icelandic countryside where many of her stories emerged. She lives in Iceland but has also spent a part of her life in Scotland and Italy.
