Glenn Keith Bidmead (born 3 February 1962) is a Sydney-based singer, songwriter, guitarist, performer and producer. With songwriting partner Steve Glover, he was a founding member of Australian rock band LemonJuice, which enjoyed several years of success in Japan and South Korea.

Biography

Early years

Bidmead was born at St Margarets Hospital in Darlinghurst, Sydney. He started playing the guitar at age nine and during his high school years performed in bands (Young Blood, The Fashions, Illusion, Frozen Moments & The Accessories) on weekends with his brother Paul, a drummer and vocalist.

Lemonjuice

In 1988, Bidmead moved to Brisbane, Queensland where he met songwriter Steve Glover and formed the band Lemonjuice, which released the album "Squeezed" in 1996 and "Twentieth Century Decadence" in 1997. Among the hit songs that Lemonjuice released in Asia were Walk on the Wire, You Know I Know, One And One Is Three and Colour Combination.

Solo career

Bidmead continued as a solo artist and in 1998 signed a recording and publishing contract with JWM and Roughcut Music's John Woodruff, manager of Savage Garden. Bidmead moved back to Sydney and later that year, his debut album "Seven Seconds" was produced by Charles Fisher and mixed in Los Angeles by Chris Lord-Alge.

Bidmead's first single, "Find Love" was released by Warner Music in Australia in 1999, with music video directed by New York-based filmmaker Adolfo Doring, renowned for his video for the Savage Garden hit "Truly Madly Deeply".[1]

In 2000, Bidmead released a second single "A World Away" through Roadshow/Warner Music.

The album "Seven Seconds" was released on iTunes in 2006, re-titled "A World Away".

Bidmead has released several independent recordings: solo albums "Red Dirt Road", "Songs in Black and White" and "The Acoustic Sessions" EP, and "Last Chance Cafe E.P."

Contemporary Works

For the past few years, Bidmead has been working with ex-Chocolate Starfish lead singer, Adam Thompson and his MusoMagic programme. Their songwriting-based music workshops are conducted for high school students, corporate groups and indigenous communities in outback Australia as well as countries like India and Fiji.

Bidmead is a founding member of the country rock band Kerosene with songwriter/drummer Kere Buchanan. Buchanan has performed with Marcia Hines, Margaret Urlich, Wendy Matthews, Rick Price, Tina Arena and Kasey Chambers. Kerosene's debut album, Art of Survival, was released in 2006.[2]

Bidmead co-wrote six songs with Buchanan for his debut album "Starting Over" as well as singing lead vocals on two tracks, "Heartbreaker" and "Through The Tears". Buchanan and Bidmead have also written ten new songs for Buchanan's soon to be released second album, "Goodbye Yesterday".

Bidmead was the producer and co-songwriter of Australian Urdu duo Raasta. He produced Raasta's debut album, Pehla Safar in 2007.

Bidmead has composed with Foreigner guitarist and songwriter Mick Jones in New York City, as well as other artists such as The Veronicas, Brooke McClymont and Jennifer Waite (Aneiki).

In March 2009, Bidmead became the lead singer and guitarist in Matt Finish with drummer and founding member John Prior and bass player Harry "The Doctor" Brus. He performed with them until November 2011.

Bidmead released the five track "Last Chance Cafe E.P." in 2012, which comprises four new original country tracks and an acoustic reworking of the Kerosene song, "Kerosene".

Recently Bidmead has been writing with Swedish brothers JTR and for their debut album and preparing to release some new LemonJuice recordings.
