Gisbert Wüstholz
Gisbert Wüstholz is a German mathematician who obtained his Ph.D. from the Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg in 1977, under the supervision of Theodor Schneider. His contributions are mainly in the area of transcendental number theory and diophantine approximation. He proved the Analytic subgroup theorem which together with similar other comprehensive results of this type has many applications to transcendental number theory. Until his retirement in 2013 he was a Professor of Mathematics at the ETH Zurich.
