Gerard Lough
Gerard Lough is an Irish director of short films and music videos.[1] His first feature as director, Night People, was released in 2015.
Early life and education
Lough attended North West Regional College in Derry, graduating with a diploma in media studies.[2] After an internship with an American advertising agency, he began making short films independently.[3]
Career in filmmaking
He is best known for working in genres such as Horror and Science Fiction. His most high-profile work, The Boogeyman (2010), an adaptation of a Stephen King story,[4] received positive reviews and extensive press coverage on the film festival circuit.[5]
In 2012 Lough was awarded 'Most Exciting Breakthrough' in the directing category by Horror Cult Films.[6] He then released 'Ninety Seconds', a futuristic neo-noir about a surveillance expert.
In 2013, Lough began work on a full-length film project, entitled Night People.[7] The filming, all on location in Ireland, was completed in August 2014, and the film was released in cinemas in 2015.[8] The following year he returned to music videos with promos for new bands such as Austen and Voynich.
