George Zinn

George Zinn was a Union Army officer in the American Civil War.[1] He was promoted to brevet brigadier general of volunteers on April 6, 1865.

Civil War

George Zinn served as colonel of the 57th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment of the Union Army.[2] Earlier, he had served as the second lieutenant of Pennsylvania Company B at the Battle of Gettysburg.

Family

Zinn's son, Captain George Zinn, demonstrated the Browning machine gun to the American Expeditionary Force during World War I. His grandson George Zinn was a pilot who was killed during a mid-air collision over Trenton, New Jersey.
