Sir George Pownall (1755 – October 17, 1834) was an English politician in Lower Canada.
Born in Lincolnshire, England, Pownall was appointed secretary and registrar of the province of Quebec in 1775. He arrived in Quebec on June 15, 1776 and was appointed to the Council for the Affairs of the Province of Quebec in 1775 and to the Legislative Council of Lower Canada in 1792.[1]
In 1796 he was made a Knight of the Order of the Bath.[1]
