Gateway Global Communications

In August 2012 the assets of Gateway Communications Africa (the carrier services business which sells wholesale voice and data services to global service providers) were split from the enterprise business and sold by Vodacom Group to PCCW Global, an operating division of Hong Kong Telecom (HKT), Hong Kong's largest telecoms provider.

The assets were transferred to Gateway Global Communications which is now operating as a carrier services company, wholly owned by PCCW Global.

Now selling under the brand of PCCW Global, Gateway Global Communications continues to operate one of the largest pan-African telecommunications networks, supplying Africa's foremost mobile operators and ISPs. They continue to help large telecoms companies and multi-national businesses connect into and within the African continent by offering fibre, satellite, microwave and wireless connectivity services.

Gateway Business Africa

Gateway Business Africa (GBA) provides pan-African data hosting services and telecommunications services in 42 sub-Saharan countries and employs 350 people in Africa.
It is a wholly owned subsidiary of the South Africa mobile phone company Vodacom,[1] which is listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange under the symbol VOD.
Gateway Business is the brand name of Vodacom Business Africa, the statutory entity under which it operates. They have offices in Angola, Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tanzania, France and the UK.
Gateway Business was formerly a division of Gateway Communications, which was acquired by the Vodacom Group [2] in December 2008 for $675m .[3]

Gateway Communications

Gateway Communications provided satellite cellular backhaul; international and regional voice and mobile broadband solutions to Africa. They sold voice and data services to enterprises in 40 countries in sub Saharan Africa.

Bought by Vodacom in December 2008 for US$675m Gateway Communications use satellite, sub sea cable (including SEACOM), wireless and fibre connectivity. The company is now 65% owned by Vodafone since Vodafone increased its share in Vodacom.

Gateway Communications was the first company to invest in SEACOM, which is bringing 1.28 Tbit/s of capacity to the continent.

Recent company developments
In March 2010, as part of Vodafone Global Enterprise, Gateway won a Five Year Contract [4] to provide Deutsche Post DHL with a managed network.
In August 2010 Gateway Business Africa launched wireless broadband in six states of Nigeria, to be rolled out across the whole of Nigeria. .[5]
