Freight Books

Freight Books is a Scottish independent publisher based in Glasgow. Freight publishes fiction for an English speaking readership,^[1] and publishes award-winning literary fiction as well as non-fiction.^[2] Freight Books was named Scotland's Publisher of the Year 2015^[3] by the Saltire Society.^[4] Freight Books will publish the debut novel of Martin Cathcart Froden, the winner of the 2015 Dundee International Book Prize.^[5] The winner of the Dundee International Book Prize in 2016 will also be published by Freight Books.^[6]

The company was founded as an imprint of Freight Design by Adrian Searle and Davinder Samrai in 2001. The publisher has increased its output each year, now publishing 35 titles per year on average,^[7] with notable publications including Gutter, a Scottish magazine on new writing, Jellyfish by Janice Galloway and the international bestseller The Hairdresser of Harare by.^[8][9]

Freight Books acquired Cargo Books in September 2015.^[10][11]
