Forres Academy is a comprehensive community school serving the town of Forres, Scotland and its rural catchment area in west Moray. Similar to other Scottish schools pupils are able to leave after the fourth year of schooling, therefore fifth and sixth year are non compulsory. The school is famous to having a link to the community of Mount Dora in Florida. The school also has a journalism group called "FANG" (Forres Academy News Group) which is very successful with stories produced being featured in both local to county newspapers.
Description of School
Forres Academy provides students with many good quality facilities in which to work from such as multiple gymnasiums to a highly equipped music corridor which provides students with the equipment and facilities to make music. The school has all the facilities you would expect a hall, a canteen (The Neetnac), multiple computer rooms and cooking areas for H.E students. Recently the school had a large extension added to the building in which new offices for staff were created along with new rooms for the P.S.E subject.
Catchment area
The school serves the villages of Alves, Rafford, Dallas, Dyke, Logie, Kinloss (including children of RAF personnel) and Findhorn (including the nearby Findhorn Community)[2] as well as the three Forres primary schools.
Location
The school is located next to Forres Swimming Pool and is also near to Applegrove Primary School and is a short walk from both the TESCO store for Forres and the high street.
