Field Adrianus Cate (born July 22, 1997) is an American actor. He is best known to date for his series-regular role playing Young Ned on the fantasy comedy-drama Pushing Daisies.
Biography
Field Cate was born in Burlington, Vermont, into a family with a history as entertainers. He is the great-grandnephew of famous silent film star Esther Ralston. He is the great-grandson of Walt Disney's thirteenth employee, Marjorie Ralston, who was an inker and was also the second voice actor for Minnie Mouse in the 1929 series Wild Waves.[4] (Disney, himself, in 1928, was the first voice of Minnie Mouse.[3]) He is also the grandson of television/stage/radio/recording artist Bob Ralston.
Cate was born and lived first in Vermont, then in Georgia. From the age of three he started to perform in theater and dance productions. His family returned to their hometown in Los Angeles when he was four, and Cate turned professional at the age of five, doing improvisational comedy, independent films, commercials and other work. Cate also appears in Placebo's video clip of "Song to Say Goodbye".
Cate worked in guest roles on various television series including Without a Trace and Cold Case. His most notable role was as Young Ned on ABC's Pushing Daisies becoming a regular cast member in season 2 and earning a Young Artist Award nomination in 2008.
He lives in Los Angeles, California.
Charity
A vegetarian, Cate has spoken out on behalf of animal rights group. PETA.[1]
Cate has also supported groups such as Mattel Children's Hospital.[2]
He currently serves as a StarPower Ambassador for Starlight Children's Foundation.[3]
