Fatma Omar An-Najar

Fatimah Omar Mahmoud Al-Najar was a 64-year-old Palestinian widow who blew herself up near Israeli troops sweeping through northern Gaza on 23 November 2006, wounding 4 Israeli soldiers.[1]

She has seven sons and two daughters,[2] Her oldest daughter stated that the Israeli military had destroyed her house, they killed her grandson and another grandson is in a wheelchair with an amputated leg.[3]

She was a veteran Hamas supporter and sheltered fugitive militants during the first Palestinian uprising of 1987-1993. She is reported to have been the oldest Palestinian suicide bomber to date.[3]
