Farm to Market Road 1626, or FM 1626 is a farm to market road, a state maintained road which serves to connect rural and agricultural areas to market towns, in the U.S. state of Texas. It is located in Travis and Hays counties. The road is 13.4 miles long.
Route description
The road begins at a junction with Interstate 35 just east of San Leanna. It goes west through Manchaca, before turning south. It continues south to its southern terminus, Interstate 35 in Kyle.
Expansion Project
In Fall 2013, construction contractor SEMA Construction began work on expanding the old 2 lane road to a 4 lane road with a center turn lane. Construction on the road is expected to be completed Fall 2014.[2][3]
History
FM 1626 was designated in 1951 from US 81 (now IH 35) west 2.7 miles to Manchaca. In 1964, FM 1626 extended to RM 967. In 1983, FM 1626 extended to FM 2770. In 2007, FM 1626 extended south to IH-35, completing its current route.
