Epos Now is a cloud-based software provider, specialising in the design and manufacture of electronic point of sale (commonly referred to as EPOS), which encompasses features including but not limited to reporting, stock control, and CRM for retail and hospitality businesses. Epos Now software can be operated from any device or platform with a web-browser or by using Epos Now’s IOS or Android app.

Epos Now’s UK headquarters are located in Norwich, England and their US headquarters are in Orlando, Florida.[1] Originally founded in June 2011, the company was a pioneer in cloud-technology in the EPOS industry and is notable for being the first EPOS company to introduce an AppStore to their customers,[2] which allows users to customise their system. The Epos Now AppStore was introduced in December 2014. Epos Now's innovation was recognised in 2016, when the company won a Queen's Award for Enterprise,[3] the UK's highest accolade for business success.

Epos Now is the UK's 13th fastest growing private technology company, and the fastest growing EPOS company in the UK. [4][5] In 2016 Epos Now was valued in excess of $90 million.[6]

History

Epos Now was founded by Jacyn Heavens in 2011 with no external investment.[7] CEO and founder Jacyn Heavens identified a gap in the market for an affordable EPOS system whilst managing a bar, and after searching for an EPOS system that would be suitable for his business, he started building software that would suit business owners like himself. The Epos Now Appstore was officially launched in September 2015, making it the first Appstore to be released within the EPOS industry.[8] There are over 20,000 businesses using Epos Now.[9]

Press

Due to Epos Now’s rapid growth, they have received attention in local and national press, in addition to online news sites[10][11] Epos Now was featured in The Sunday Times’ Hiscox Tech Track 100 programme[4] in 2015, which recognised the business as the 13th fastest-growing technology business in the UK. Epos Now also regularly features in regional press, including The Eastern Daily Press[12][13] which covers Norfolk, and northern parts of Suffolk and eastern Cambridgeshire.

In addition, Epos Now has featured in a number of Channel 4 television programmes featuring their systems in their customers' stores,[14][15] including the third series of Mary Portas Secret Shopper (Episode 3).[16]

Epos Now's in-house Research and Business Intelligence team produces regular reports and data analysis on trends within the retail, hospitality and technology industries.[17] Epos Now's analysis of the UEFA Euro 2016 was used many publications, including the BBC,[18] the Mail Online,[19] The Telegraph[19] and The Sun.[20]

Epos Now's rapid growth has received press attention in The Guardian[21] providing insight into entrepreneurial practices for new businesses.[22]

Epos Now CEO, Jacyn Heavens appeared on BBC News[23] commenting on business operations following Britain's exit from the EU.

Epos Now figures have been used in the national press to examine the increase in revenue experienced by British retail and hospitality businesses during summer 2016, following the referendum. This 'staycationing' trend was commented on in the The Times,[24] Mail Online[25] and City A.M[26].

Awards

In 2015, Epos Now was awarded ‘Epos Innovation of the Year’ by Retail Systems,[27][28] and was shortlisted for EDP Business Awards [29] and Tech Cities 2015.

In 2016 Epos Now was shortlisted for the UK Cloud Awards in the "Most Innovative SMB Product of the Year" category[30] and the Engagement & Loyalty Awards in the "Most Innovative Technology" category.[31] Epos Now is also a finalist in the 2016 The Grocer Gold Awards, for the "Technology Supplier of the Year" category.[32]

On April 21, 2016 it was announced the Epos Now had won a Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Innovation category.[33]

Epos Now were named Gold Stevie Award winners for The International Business Awards as "The Most Innovative company of the Year 2016".[34]
