Emibai Jinnah (1878–1893)[5] was the first cousin and first wife of the founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah from 1892 until her death.[6][7][8][9]
Marriage and death
Emibai was born in 1878 in Karachi. When she became 14 years old, Muhammad Ali Jinnah's mother Mithibai Jinnah was urging him to marry his cousin Emibai Jinnah.[10] Jinnah fulfilled his mother urge and married Emibai at the age of 16 at Paneli Village.[11][12] She died few months later after Muhammad Ali Jinnah left to England for higher studies.[8][9] Struck by the tragedy, he did not marry for a long time.[6] After 25 years (aged 40 – 41), he married Maryam Jinnah (1900 – 1929) as his second wife on April 19, 1918 until her death on February 20, 1929. Unlike Jinnah's second wife Maryam, little is known about her.[13][14] She was the sister-in-law of Fatima Jinnah and stepmother of Dina Jinnah.[5]
