Eltro Information Rate Changer

The Eltro Information Rate Changer is an analog recording tool used to modulate pitch without affecting tempo. It is best known as the effect used in 2001: A Space Odyssey for the Hal 9000 computer.[1][2] Patents for the device date back to the 1920s.[1]
