Edgeworthstown railway station serves the town of Edgeworthstown (Mostrim) in County Longford.

Edgeworthstown station is served by national rail company Iarnród Éireann's Dublin to Longford commuter service and Dublin to Sligo intercity service.[1]

History

The station opened on 8 November 1855.[2]

It was formerly called "Mostrim railway station", from an anglicisation of the towns Irish language name, but this fell out of official usage by the 1990s.

Ticketing

There are two ticket vending machines at the station. Cheaper tickets may be obtained online at http://www.irishrail.ie. However, you may need to go to a different station to collect tickets purchased online in advance of travel, as it is not possible to specify Edgeworthstown as the station at which the purchased ticket is to be collected. Tickets may also be purchased at the station's ticket office at the higher price, if it's open.
