Eastern Oromo (also known as "Ittu Oromo" or "Qottu Oromo") is a dialect of the Oromo language. It is spoken in the Mirab Hararghe Zone, Misraq Hararghe Zone and northern Bale Zone of the Oromia Region of Ethiopia.[4]
According to Ethnologue, a 1994 census reported 4,530,000 speakers of this dialect.[2] However, the 1994 Ethiopian national census did not break down language speakers according to dialect, although it reported 2,570,293 speakers of Oromo in those two zones.[5]
