The Dominican Biblical Institute (DBI) was a biblical research center, initiated and financed by the Irish Dominican friars in Limerick, Ireland. Founded in 2000, it closed in September 2015.[1]
The Dominican Province of Ireland founded the DBI in 2000 to engage in advanced biblical research, training and teaching. The Institute was formally established in 2007.
The DBI ran a Diploma in Biblical and Theological Studies is a 3-year, level 6 course, accredited by the St. Patrick's College, Maynooth. The 30th May 2012 saw successful students being awarded diplomas by Maynooth at a Graduation Ceremony.[2] A further group of students were awarded the diploma in autumn 2014, and the final group were awarded the diploma in 2015.
The library was distributed to other Dominican institutions in Ireland.[1]
The purpose-built facility is currently for sale.
